The word contract conjures up the idea of a business deal we’ve made.
Soul contracts are a different kind of business deal—in this case, it is the business of pre-deciding how our human condition will go and what opportunities we will have for the sake of our soul’s evolution. Prior to our birthdate (which is actually a contract in itself!), we meet with our Spiritual counsel—our spiritual guides, teacher and guardians—to co-determine what will unfold while we are alive. The day of our birth, our families (parents, extended family, siblings and in-laws), friends, teachers, career paths, health issues, partners and children we may have all are contracted so that we can learn and grow. All challenges and blessings are part of the contracts we have made and are all laced with the lessons we are supposed to learn as we engage in our human condition in any given lifetime.
The truth is, humans are here to grow. We don’t just show up for no reason; instead, we’re here to learn. While the exact details might not be planned and specifically laid out, the lesson behind each of our significant events are agreed upon. If we don’t learn a lesson the first time around, the Universe will see to it that we have another chance… and another… and another… until we have gleaned whatever it is we are supposed to before we can move on.
Many refer to our beloved planet as “earth school”, a place souls come to learn many lessons. It is true that as we age, we inevitably learn along the way. However, through one or more soul contracts we carry, we can start to recognize themes in what we are supposed to master as we “graduate” to the next lesson. It could be a relationship dynamic that repeats over and over again. Or perhaps it is a lifestyle challenge that must be overcome. Sometimes it is a matter of learning how to outgrow a family dynamic or pattern. In all cases, it is the most difficult behavior, habit, or mindset that points to a particular contract we have with ourselves or others.
Our contracts and life lessons not only show up in how we navigate life, they are also often apparent in our astrological charts (either by identifying our astrological personality or how our planets align throughout life), through our soul wounds which might be identified through soul-based methods such as Akashic Record readings, Soul Realignment consultations, past-life regressions, energetic assessments and more. In fact, the whole reason you may have reincarnated may circle around completing a contract from a previous lifetime.
